The Restenford Journals #8 (22 APRIL 2024)

Since we left last session on a Cliffhanger we picked up right where we left off and of course we are missing a PC from that session as well as picking up the PC who missed last session ;). Now of course this is the argument for stopping play in the dungeon and always returning to town but that also prevent you from having a Cliffhanger episode that PCs can mull over for a week before playing again. I'm find with either and it wad not much of an actual Cliffhanger either but they had finished with the general body of Bandits and were almost of out of resources, They are pressing on because they know if they fall back and rest the Main Villain will escape, plain and simply. All of your minions are dead and if you value your skin you would skedaddle as well. The Magic-User Davon is the primary voice of lets get out so I can rememorized spells and the Ranger Tushaub and Elf Eldrin are pushing forward. I allow the PC character not present to head down tot he Hob...

Dwarf OSE+ Dark Citadel Session #20 (APRIL 2024)

SO, after a long hiatus partially due to local severe weather and scheduling conflicts we finally returned to the OSE Advanced Dwarf themed exploration of the Dark Citadel. Still had a missing PC this week but it is Baseball season for the kid and this is gonna happen. We dived right in and Ye' Brotherhood of Expendable Strangers sought to recruit more Retainers to no avail although a group of Thaneduhr Dwarf Pilgrims arrived at the Restored Temple of Thaneduhr and began restoring it to it's former glory. These NPC can in the future however be recruited by the PCs as Followers when Cleric attain Name Level. I will take time today or morrow and roll up some of these as Retainer Options to be recruited but the miserly hiring habits of the PCs results in a consistent -2 or more to recruiting efforts.    A minimal recap of the previous session and we decide only 6 days since the week travel time of the precious session has passed. I do not follow 1:1 time much at ...

The Restenford Journals #7 (15 APRIL 2024)

Ok, so we picked up right where we left off last time except with a different player and missing a player. So, I had to plug and play a reason why. If you disregard allot of logical thinking and remember "Hey, this is a fantasy game" its no big deal. If you are simulationist you kinda grind your teeth for a few minutes. We came up with the Thief got separated after getting a late start from the Stone House in the Xerbal Mountains which btw I really need to work on  bit more.    Opting to rest an evening and risk detection by the Falcon's Rest Bandits above the PCs keep watch and get lucky. I roll for the escaped Hobgoblin females morale and it succeeds but I roll a Wandering Monster Check for them and fate is cruel. A simple percental check to see if the Bandits above come visit the Hobgoblin Cave results in nope so our stalwart adventurers get a decent nights sleep and the single Hit Point that gives those who had any wounds. They move the boulder blockin...

The Restenford Journals #6 (8 APRIL 2024)

Another rousing session in adventure land awaits fine readers.     Anyway after fearing I may only have a pair of PCs this week it turned out I had three which is fine enough for me, but two can be touch and go honestly. A few bad rolls and a TPK is almost assured. So we started on time and previously decided to switch back over to Restenford and pick up in the Xerbal Mountains. I quickly noticed after a few minutes that ROll20 had gobbled up or lost files and handouts so I was kind of irritated as well as tired. Not sleeping much and feeling lethargic. MeH, enough of that about the hijinks.     We picked up in the Stone House of the Orc Bandits they encountered outside of Restenford on the Mountain Road. Up in the Xerbal Mountains and I allowed this to be counted a Safe Spot for Rest thus allowing CON Bonus and accumulation of XP from monetary Treasure. It being Real Estate as well this is highly prized by the PCs and it is nestled...

Stone-Hell on the Borderlands Session #23 (1 APRIL 2024)

We returned to Kendall Keep on the Borderlands for this week's Monday session and it was a fun one. At least I think it was but I am biased. This session picked up within the Keep and added another player. A scruffy looking adventurer staying at the Traveler's Inn. Nash is quickly promised an equal share and they headed off towards Stone-Hell Valley .   I set the mood with the current weather that was going outside of my window. Heavily overcast with a large dangerous storm coming. I rolled a rare Wandering Monster Check near the Fens south of Kendall Keep , and not surprisingly it was Lizardmen. I roll a Monster Reaction Check and it comes up hostile enough for an ambush. Easily justifiable with the previous encounters with lizardmen having left them with a taste for Elf Flesh. It s a few rounds of Javelins inflicting damage spread over the Coddiwimplers but with a casting of Sleep by the intended meal several Lizardmen fall into the magical slumber and the rest ...
